Lately the new L’Oreal foundation has caused quite a spark in the beauty world. L’Oreal decided to bring the popular trend of cushion foundation from Asia to the States and people have been loving it! The foundation is a sister to the already well known foundation, L’Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Foundation. Just as the Lumi Liquid foundation, the innovative concept of the cushion In the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion foundation delivers luminous natural finish conveniently made for those who are on-the-go. Now this new foundation is not the most cost efficient beauty product especially knowing that it is a drugstore item. So what we all want to know, is this really worth the money and the hype?
Price: $16.99 (Price may vary depending on where you bought it, I bought mine at CVS. I also used coupons in which I ended up paying around $10.)
Color Range: At my CVS they didn’t have much too choose from, the color range was not to big. I looked online and there seems to be more color selection online than in my store. I ended up choosing N3.5 because the color after it was too dark and the one before it had too many pink undertones. The color matched perfectly by the way!
Packaging: Very beautiful compact packaging with the rose gold accent top. Good size mirror inside, a very soft applicator included, a snap on lid inside to protect the foundation, and a sponge that holds 0.51oz of product.
Consistency: Very thin foundation, not heavy or creamy.
(I used the Nivea Men’s Post Shave balm in Sensitive as a primer. *review on that coming real soon*)
Application: I applied the foundation three different ways just to see which one would leave a better finish. I tried it with the sponge applicator it came with, the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, and an e.l.f. blending brush. It applied well with the Real Techniques sponge and the brush, but I love it more when applied with the applicator it comes with. Strange, right? Considering most applicators drugstore products come with are not so good. Although applying it with the applicator takes a very long time, so what I ended up loving was applying the foundation with the sponge or the brush and them going over it with the applicator for a smooth finish.
Coverage: L’Oreal claims it to be a sheer to medium coverage foundation. I totally disagree. The foundation is definitely from medium to full coverage! With one dab of my sponge in the foundation, it covered most of my acne and acne scars. This is a foundation you can apply very little for just some luminosity to your skin or you can build up for a more full coverage look.
Finish: Gives a very natural luminous finish, not to luminous where it looks oily but where your skin looks healthy and supple. Very flawless foundation. Products like blush and bronzer when on very smoothly.
After wearing it for an entire day: I had the foundation on for about 9-10 hours I do have oily to combination skin, so I did touch up with a bit of translucent powder once throughout the day on my t-zone just to remove some of my oils that were peaking through. Also, I did notice after that the foundation clinged a little bit to a small dry path that I have next to my nose. After coming home at one in the morning my foundation was looking great!
This is a very great foundation that I can easily see myself using all the time (I haven’t been using any other foundation since I bought it). Great everyday foundation and the packaging is really convenient. I really like the sponge concept that delivers so much product its insane. It really amazed me how good it covered my acne and it did not clog my pores. I feel like this foundation can work with many different skin types. If you have dry skin you will love it, if you have oily skin you can just use a mattifiying primer and I’m sure you will love it too. It wears beautifully throughout the day and makes your skin look healthy and radiant. I can really see myself repurchasing this product! Although its price is high for a drugstore foundation, it is worth the money. By the way I will leave the coupon I used below for $1 off a L’Oreal product. All in all, this product is definitely worth the hype!
