Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit Review!

Hello Beauties!

Today I wanted to talk about a product that has had a whole lot of rave and praise on every social media possible, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. Being one of the first contour kits to come out, it has really changed makeup in general. For those who have not heard about the ABH Contour kit (if that is you my friend, you have been living under a rock) it is a highlight and contour palette that has all the shades you need to create a flawless, structured and defined look. I’m a little bit late with this review since this contour kit has been out for a while, but I am a college student on a budget so I usually gravitate towards drugstore products . I’ve been wanting the ABH Contour Kit since it came out! Finally, I ended up getting my hands on this bad boy thanks to my best friend Monica who gave it to me for my birthday in March (she also game me the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette! Is she not the best or what?). I’ve been using this contour kit A LOT. Although, I’m going to be 100% completely honest with you, it didn’t blow me away. I was expecting so much from this product because of how much it was talked about in the beauty world. Don’t get me wrong, it is an amazing contour kit, but I was expecting a little more. Also, I was really surprised with the size of the kit. It look a lot bigger in pictures and videos, but it relatively smaller than it looks. The original kit comes with 6 different matte powder shades, 3 contour shades (Sand, Vanilla, Banana) and 3 highlight shades (Java, Fawn, Havana).

Price: $40.00 USD a bit pricey but I’ve used the kit so much and I still haven’t created a dent in the contour and highlight shades.

Packaging: It has very sleek, black packaging with a magnetic closure. It is also a very hard packaging that I feel it protects the powders very well. The great thing about this is that if you finish one powder before the others, you don’t have to repurchase the whole kit. Instead you can just buy the powder you need because the kit is made of removable powders you can replace whenever it is needed.

Description on the Sephora Website:

This contouring collectible contains six blendable formulas to sculpt and define features. Darker shades are ideal for shading and defining, while lighter shades sculpt and enhance features. Removable and refillable, the set contains all the color needed to start expertly emphasizing eyes, cheekbones, nose, and jawline.”

Formula: The powders are super blendable and a little goes a long way my friends, I learned that the hard way. They don’t feel chalky and I find they set to the skin beautifully. Although, I was expecting them to be a lot creamier.

Longevity: These powders stay all day for me! Especially when I have a matte foundation on.

How I Use it: I find that I use the highlight shades a lot more frequently. I mix Sand and Banana and use it to set my under eyes. I use Vanilla to add a subtle highlight on my cheekbones. For everyday wear, I use a mixture of Java and Havana to bronze my face (start with very little and build your way up). If I want a more contoured look, first I use Fawn to create my contour because it is more of cool-tone contour powder. Then I use Java to blend it out. Finally I pick up Havana and apply a very little amount to just darken and blend my contour a little more.

Would I Recommend it?: That isn’t even a question, of coarse! Although it didn’t blow me away, I feel like this is an essential for everybody who loves makeup. It is a very versatile product that can work for beginners and advanced makeup artists or people who love makeup. This is a must have in every makeup collection!

Summary: Although this product didn’t “wow” me, I feel that it is an essential in every makeup collection (like that little black dress in every girls wardrobe). The powders in the original ABH Contour Kit are very blendable and smooth. They are super easy to work with and last really long on the face. The price is reasonable because after using it very frequently these past months, I have yet not created a dent in the powders. The kit is made from replaceable powders. This is great feature because nobody would like to buy the whole palette again just because one powder finished. The great thing is that you can choose to buy the original ABH Contour kit or you can customize your own depending on your skin tone! Totally recommend the ABH Contour Kit!

Alright my beauties, that is it for today! I hope you liked this review. If you have tried this contour kit, how did it work out for you? Other than that I love you all and take care!

    1. I’ve heard amazing things about the Kat Von D shade and Light palette. Some of my friends are lucky enough to have both the ABH and The Kat Von D and they all prefer the Kat von D but they still think the ABH one is a must have!!
