Today will consist of a different kind of post. As I told you all before in my Quick Update post, how I wanted to incorporate more categories into my blog than just beauty. I also wanted to tell you on how I’m working toward my weight loss goals. I’ve been trying to eat healthier, but it is so hard especially since my family isn’t really supportive. I live in a household of 5 (including me) and my dad says, “Just because you are on a diet, doesn’t mean the whole family is going to be on one too!”. So I have so many temptations in my house like ice cream, chips and chocolate! I haven’t been exercising much either (which is really bad, especially since I want to lose weight!). At the beginning of the two weeks I weighed 166 lbs and my current weight now is 161 lbs Although, the last two weeks I have been making much more healthier eating choices than before! I do have fast food once a week and occasionally give in to the temptations at home, but I found that three things have really helped be lose a couple pounds without doing much exercise and keep my healthy eating habits!
1. Green Tea– I drink green tea right when I wake up, before eating anything! I heard green tea helps you metabolize food faster (which I’m in need of because I have the slowest metabolism everrr!!). Also, since I’ve been drinking green tea it has really improved my skin, it looks a lot more healthier!
2. Morning smoothie– After drinking my green tea, I move on to my breakfast. For the last couple of week I have made myself a fruit smoothie and I feel that by drinking this it gives me a lot of energy for the day. It also decreases my food cravings. Keep in mind I don’t just drink a smoothie for breakfast, I pair it sometimes with some peanut butter on whole grain toast or whatever I feel like eating for breakfast. I try my best to choose the healthiest ingredients. (Favorite smoothie: frozen strawberries, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, blueberries, chia seeds or flax seeds, and regular almond milk)
3. I don’t eat past 7 p.m.– My mom actually recommended this for me since she saw it on one of her talk shows, so I decided to give it a try. The first days were hard since my body was so used to eating after 7 p.m., but it has become a habit now. Sometimes I do cheat on this because I go to dinner with my boyfriend, but as long as I get back on the track the next day, I’m all good! (Tip: when I get hungry past 7 p.m. I drink lots of water!)
Keep in mind this not might work for everybody since we all have different bodies and I am not a professional, but I found these few things have worked out for me. By doing these three things daily, I find myself feeling better and making better food choices. I feel that if I start working out, I can lose so much more weight. Also, I drink LOTS of water! I at least drink a gallon of water a day because I stay away from any juices or soda. As for exercise, I don’t do much at all but I always try to make good choices like opting for the stairs instead of the elevator (which I don’t mind because I have this weird fear of elevators). Don’t feel bad if you made a bad food choice, just remember to eat more healthy foods than bad foods (I always tell myself that). I’m not a big believer on depriving yourself from eating what you like (like donuts, chips, etc) as long as you eat them in moderation and you know when to stop! Life is too short to not be able to enjoy what you love, in my opinion (but I give huge props for those who are able to cut off junk food completely, I’ve tried and I’ve failed 😦 ). Well that is it for today! I hope you guys like these kind of posts and I hope I have given you some helpful tips if you are on your weight loss journey like me or just want to be healthier. Have a great Wednesday and always remain positive!
