e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set Review!

Hello my beautiful followers!

I hope everyone’s day has been amazing so far! I am so happy I just received my final grades for this semester and I am so pleased (yay, all the late nights of studying didn’t go to waste!). Today I wanted to do a review on a very popular product from the cosmetic brand e.l.f. which I am sure a lot of you have heard about. But if you haven’t, e.l.f. is a cosmetic brand that stands for eyes lips face. E.l.f. is super inexpensive and has a vast selection of great products ranging from makeup to skin care. The e.l.f . Makeup Mist and Set was my first setting spray, so we go wayyyyyy back.

e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set

The description of the product on the website states:

“Wish you could have a product for your makeup like Hairspray is for your hair? Well…keep your makeup staying in place all day with a radiance boosting invisible hold with our new Makeup Mist & Set. The invigorating mist moisturizes and soothes the skin with key ingredients Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E. The lightweight, comfortable and alcohol free formula improves makeup wearability and prevents color from running or fading. “

In smaller words, it is just a setting spray with ingredients that are beneficial to your skin. Β The mist and set spray comes in a very basic black spray bottle packaging. The packaging does looks very inexpensive, but I can’t really complain since the cost was amazing. The setting spray only cost $3 USD!! I found when using this product it would prolong the durability of my everyday makeup. I would do my makeup in the morning around 8 a.m. and wouldn’t notice fading until around 5 p.m. ishhh. Also, when I felt my skin to be really dull, I would spray this before doing my makeup and it would revive my skin.

I loved using this product on its own as well. We all have those days we don’t want to wear makeup and just go out the house with a bare face and maybe a little mascara and a tinted lip balm. Well, I used to spray this on those kind of days just to brighten my complexion. I did this for a while and found that the spray was really evening my skin tone as well. One thing I really disliked was the smell. At first when you spray it, for me it had this sour/cheesy kind of smell. It is really hard to explain. Although, the smell does fade away quickly! Compared to all my setting sprays so far, this has the worst smell of them all (the smell is not so bad to the point of being unbearable, but it is just a really odd scent). Don’t be alarmed, it does not leave the scent on your skin, as I said, it fades very quickly. Through time you just get used to it also. If you are having a special event that is going to last the whole day, I would recommend a different setting spray because the e.l.f. setting spray is more of an everyday kind of spray. If I have a special occasion, I usually don’t gravitate toward this spray because the more active you are, the less it holds and starts fading (well at least for me, since I have oily skin). Don’t get me wrong, this is a great everyday setting spray, but for a special event I would recommend something more on the lines of the Urban Decay all nighter setting spray.

Summary: Overall, this is a great everyday setting spray. I would rate this product a 3.5 out of 5. 1 being really bad and 5 being excellent. The beneficial ingredients like aloe, green tea, cucumber and the vitamins really revived my skin and through time it evened out my skin tone. I would recommend this setting spray as an everyday product. If you have a special event, I would gravitate towards a more durable setting spray because the e.l.f. Makeup Mist and Set spray holds at a moderate level (the more active you are, the more quickly it fades). Also, it has a really bad smell when initially applied, but it fades away very quickly. All in all, it is a great inexpensive product that I would recommend for people to give it a try.

If you guys have tried this product, I would love to hear how it worked out for you! With that being said my loves, I hope you all have a blessed and positive day!

    1. I’ve heard so many great things about MAC’s fix plus that I’ve been meaning to try. The e.l.f. setting spray does it’s job , but it does somewhat fade and the smell isn’t the best. and Thank you so much!! πŸ™‚

  1. I did a review on the spray too! Now that I’ve had it for a little while it starts to make my face itch. Not sure what that’s about. Just a fair warning! (:
